John Akkerman

Jan Akkerman, born on Amsterdam in 1946, is a Dutch guitarist renowned for his virtuosic playing and diverse musical style, primarily within the rock and jazz genres. He first gained prominence as a member of the progressive rock band Focus, which he joined in the late 1960s. With Focus, Akkerman contributed to notable albums such as “Moving Waves” (1971), featuring the hit single “Hocus Pocus,” and “Focus III” (1972), showcasing his innovative blend of rock, classical, and jazz influences. Akkerman is celebrated for his technical skill and improvisational prowess, often incorporating elements of flamenco and blues into his work.
